All County Chorus Practice Tracks-
Dear Parents of Fifth Grade Chorus Students:
The choral and instrumental music programs of Loudoun County continue to be some of the finest in the state of Virginia! At the middle school and high school levels, students who excel vocally and instrumentally are given the opportunity to represent their school in county events such as All-County Chorus and All-County Band. In response to the exceptional performance at the foundation of the Loudoun County music program, students at the elementary level will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents at the VMEA Loudoun County District XVI Elementary Chorus. This event will occur on Friday May 3, 2019 and Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Park View High School in Sterling.
As a fifth grade chorus student your child will have the opportunity to audition for this select ensemble, which will include fifth graders from all elementary schools in the county. Students who are chosen to be members of this ensemble will be responsible for attending all rehearsals on Friday and Saturday, May 3rd and May 4th. The concert will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, May 4th. Students will prepare and memorize various musical selections to perform for the program. Concert attire will consist of black pants or skirts and white shirts or blouses. Dark or black shoes are also requested. The concert on Saturday afternoon, May 4th will be professionally recorded and video taped and offered for sale in the lobby after the concert.
Lucketts Elementary School has been given 2 positions for the All-County Elementary Chorus. Fifth grade students who are interested in being a part of this select ensemble must have a singing audition. Auditions for Lucketts students will be held during school the week of January 14-January 18. If your child cannot audition at this time, please contact Mrs. Nei so alternate arrangements can be made. Students will be asked to sing “Happy Birthday” and/or “America” in a group and individually with accompaniment and also unaccompanied. Selection criteria will be based upon singing ability, intonation (key and pitch), diction, volume and projection, stage presence, cooperative group skills, and responsibility. If your child cannot attend the entire rehearsal and performance dates in May, please do not encourage them to audition. If your child is not dedicated or responsible enough to memorize the music, do not encourage them to audition. The 2 best candidates from the fifth grade will be selected to represent our school. Special rehearsals with the music teacher will be held once a week during February, March and April. Also, music along with practice CD’s or online tracks will be provided for each selected performer. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. All students who wish to audition should complete and submit the electronic permission slip to us, no later than January 11 prior to the audition. Forms will not be accepted after the deadline. Thank you for your continued support of all Loudoun County music programs, and we look forward to seeing your child at the audition!
