    Background & Bio:
Mr. Tyson spent the early years of his life in his hometown of Enterprise, Alabama, where he learned the work ethic and passion needed to be successful in life. He credits his success to his mother who is a retired educator of nearly 40 years! He's honored and blessed to have such a wonderful role model in his life. Mr. Tyson is married and has one child. He has three siblings, including a twin sister. During his spare time, he enjoys working out, watching cartoons, and cheering on his favorite sports teams...Howard University, Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Dallas Cowboys!
Mr. Tyson received his Bachelor of Science in Human Performance, with a minor in Secondary Education, from Howard University, and his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from Regent University. He has served as a Teacher Assistant, Teacher, Dean, Assistant Principal, and Principal in Loudoun County Public Schools. Additionally, he held the positions of High School Assistant Principal and Site Director of Career and Technical Education for Midfield City Schools in Midfield, Alabama.

Mr. Tyson firmly believes in Ghandi’s quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”  With this idea in mind, he has founded two student organizations.  The first of these is “Dedicated Men with a Vision (DMV).”  DMV has taken part in several community service projects, through which members received monthly principles on manhood and becoming a gentleman.  The second organization is “Determined Strong Women (DSW).”  The club’s motto is “Developing Dynamic Leaders Through Discipline and Dedication.”  Serving the community is a priority to Mr. Tyson. He is a former Advisory Board member for The William Kellibrew Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for victims of violent crime and working to break the cycle of violence and poverty across the globe.

     Current School Year info:
    Hello Champe family,
I am excited about entering my 14th year in education and 5th year as Principal of John Champe High School. The past few years have provided many highs and lows. We've conquered many barriers and learned a lot as a school community. The summer break provided many of us with a much needed mental break. Our theme for this school year is "RISE UP: Champe Excellence Everywhere." Our staff is well rested and prepared for an amazing school year! This year we welcome back nearly 1620 students and 300 staff members. Our mission remains the same: ...create a supportive environment that encourages every individual to become the best version of themselves, in order to make a meaningful contribution to the world! With our mission and vision in focus, we will continue with our motto of "We Believe in MAGIC". MAGIC means Making A Greater Individual Committment. Each of our stakeholders has made incredible commitments to ensure the success and safety of our students over the last few years. I am incredibly grateful and humble to serve the John Champe High School community. Having a successful school is truly a team effort. I strongly encourage parents to get involved by joining our booster clubs and/or PTSA organization. I also encourage students to get involved with one of our more than 100 student clubs and organizations. I look forward to a wonderful school year!
I love you and have a great day on purpose!
