  • Practical Nursing Program

    Practical Nursing is a 2-year program being offered

    by Loudoun County Public Schools - Adult Education. 

    It is approved by the VBN (Virginia Board of Nursing)


     Enrollment for the current

    academic year, 2021-2022 is closed

    Practical Nursing (PN) I:

    -Tuition:  $2,700-

    Tuesday through Friday  9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

    First-year of the two-year Practical Nursing pathway. 

    Class units include:

    • Geriatric nursing; 
    • Nursing skills;
    • Nutrition;
    • Growth and development;
    • Nursing fundamentals;
    • Administration of medication; and
    • Anatomy and physiology.

    There is a 40-hour clinical experience at a long-term care facility. Students must provide their own transportation to clinical experiences.  

    After successful completion of Practical Nursing I, students are eligible to take the Certified Nurse Aide Exam.   


    Practical Nursing (PN) II:

    -Tuition: $3,600-

    Monday through Friday  9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

     (Prerequisite: Completion of PN I)

    Second-year of the two-year Practical Nursing pathway. Labs build on the skills gained in PN I.

    Class units include:

    • Medical-Surgical;
    • Nursing;
    • Pediatric Nursing;
    • Mental Health Nursing;
    • Maternal/Newborn Health; and
    • Nursing Leadership.

    There is a 400-hour clinical component completed at a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, physician offices, school and community clinics, and long-term care facilities.

    After successful completion of Practical Nursing II, students may apply to the Board of Nursing and sit for the NCLEX-PN licensing examination to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

    Enrichment Classes Registration:

    Returning students may already have an account. Please log in to your existing account. You can reset your password if you forgot it.

    Once you are logged in, search for the different courses that we offer. Select the course you would like to take and click on "Enroll Yourself"

    Review course information before submitting your request, and proceed to enter your payment. Payments is online.

    Aditional information for registration:  

    • Is open for residents and non-residents alike (age 18 and older).
    • Is online and MUST be completed before attending a class.
    • Is not accepted after the start of a class

    Senior Citizen discount:

    • A discount of 25% off, is offered on some courses for citizens 60 years or over. In order to receive the discount, please email us at adult.education@lcps.org.
    • Senior Citizen discounts are NOT AVAILABLE on: English Learners, Business/ Career, Practical Nursing, Financial Awareness, Horticulture, Computer Technology/ Software or Trade & Industry classes.

    Tuition and enrollment fees payment:

    • Are due at the time of registration.
    • Payments are by credit card only.


    • Refunds are automatic if the class has been filled or canceled.
    • Refunds are also given if schedule changes are made by the Adult Education Office.

    To take classes with Adult Education you must 18 and older.  To receive a Certificate of Attendance, students must have a 70% of participation in class. 

     How to register for classes & make payment?

    • You MUST register before attending a class. Registrations are processed in the order received, and are not accepted after the start of a class. 
    • Registrations are online and paid with credit card
    • GED Preparatory Classes MUST attend an Information Sessions before registering. 

    Where do I find my Textbook/Supply List?

    • Supply and Textbook Information can be found on our website site, please click on the link Supply & Textbook. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at adult.education@lcps.org. Please indicate your class name in the subject area and your e-mail will be forward to the instructor.



    • Refunds must be requested before a class start. If a class is canceled by the Adult Education Office, refunds will be processed automatically. To request a refund, please fill out the  Refund Request Form
    •  NO REFUNDS will be given after the start of class. NO Switches will be allowed after the start of class.

    Senior Citizen Discounts:

    • Seniors Citizens must be 60 years of age or older, who reside in Loudoun County may register for SOME Classes and receive 25% off the regular tuition fee. In order to receive the discount, please email adult education office for instructions. adult.education@lcps.org
    • Senior Citizen Discount are NOT AVAILABLE for the following Classes; this message will be displayed in our Catalog below each subject (No Senior discount available)

      What happens if LCPS Schools are closed? 

    • Adult Education follows the LCPS extracurricular and evening activities schedule. There will be no classes when evening activities are canceled.  Classes will NOT Meet when schools are closed for Holidays (NOTE: Teacher workdays are not considered Holidays)
    •  School Closings announcements will be made over the Local Radio, TV stations and Adult Education website, www.lcps.org/adulted.

  • Adult High School


    The Adult High School classes are designed for individuals who need between one (1) and ten (10) credits to complete their Standard High School Diploma requirements. 

    Ongoing Registration: 

    August 12, 2020 - February 26, 2021 

    Adult High School Quick Facts


    • A transcript from the last school attended must be presented prior to registration.


    • All course work must be completed by June 4th, 2021. Classes are currently held 100% online, and self paced. Therefore students must have internet access.


    • Students will be assigned independent work through the Credit Recovery Program BUT will be required to meet with instructors on a weekly basis.


    • Tuition is $300 per course payable at time of registration by credit card. We have no scholarships or financial aid available.

    • Note: If in-person classes resume, meeting with Instructors will be held at Park View High School located at: 400 W. Laurel Avenue, Sterling VA 20164.


    • Upon completion of course work, students may obtain a transcript showing their diploma status. Diplomas are available in June.


     *ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY IS REQUIRED FOR ALL ADH/GED®, Adult Basic Education, and Adult High School classes.

  • English Learners (EL)

    Adult EL Classes

     Loudoun County Adult Education offers EL classes to Loudoun County residents, 18 years or older,  who desire to improve their understanding of the English language. 

    Instruction is given in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes range from literacy to advanced levels. Students will take a placement test prior to joining the EL classes, and will be placed in a class according to their English level. 


    • $150.00 plus $20.00 Non-Refundable enrollment fee - Total - $170.00


    • Twice a week - 13 weeks. 26 sessions total 
    • We offer AM and PM Classes
    • Classes can be taken in-person or online. Online classes seats are limited
    • Semesters: Fall and Spring of every school year

    Classes start: January 24th (Mon-Wed) AND Jan 25th (Tue-Thu)

    How to Register: 

    1. Fill out the Enrollment Request (coming soon)
    2. Within 24 hrs after submitting the Enrollment Request Form, you will receive a payment link. Registration is not complete until payment is received.
    3. A proctor will contact you by email, with a time/date to take the Placement Test. The placement test is administered online via Google Meet. Placement Test is mandatory
    4. A week prior to the class start date, you will receive your class and teacher’s information.

  • GED Prep Program

    General Educational Development (GED) Preparatory Class Information


    We provide basic skills instruction to adults whose math and reading skills have been assessed at or below the GED® readiness level. 

    Choose from a combination of instructor led, individualized, and online classes that are flexible and convenient.

    English proficiency (Writing, Reading, Speaking & Listening) is required for all GED classes.


     Join us for virtual Information Session/orientation, and find out what the GED Certification is all about.

    Requirement - Prior to starting any classes, you must meet with our staff members by phone/video, and attend our Informational Session.  Our orientation is free! No commitment necessary.  In order to receive instructions on how to join, send an email to adult.education@lcps.org


    Placement - After you attend our orientation, you must take our placement exams. These tests will be taken online with a proctor, and will assist with obtaining your academic progress to place you in the appropriate classes.  You may not begin classes without a placement test.  Due to the pandemic, group testing is not available.  Individual testing is by appointment only.

    GED In Person
    The program meets Tues/Wed/Thurs (6:30pm - 9:00pm). All four subjects available + academic support. 10 weeks per session.

    GED Distance Learning (Online)
    This program is online, self directed, with limited academic support.  All four subjects at once, pre-requisites apply.  12 weeks per session.

    Deadline to sign up - November 22nd, 2021
    Tuition -  Every session has a total cost of $180.  Tuition is due in full prior to class start.  Payment can be made by credit card only.
