Ms. Buchko, Lara

Ms. Buchko is the Fine Arts Chair & Orchestra Director at River Bend Middle School. She previously taught orchestra at Timber Creek High School in Orange County Public Schools (Orlando, Florida). Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylavania, Ms. Buchko began playing the violin when she was four years old. She grew up playing in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony studying with first violinists, Chris Wu and Chia-Chi Lin, of the Pittsburgh Symphony.

Ms. Buchko received a full scholarship to Penn State University studying with James Lyon and earned a Bachelor's of Music in Violin Performance.  She then went onto receive a full scholarship plus music performance stipend at the University of Central Florida and earned a Masters of Arts in Music Education. Ms. Buchko spent her summers playing at many music festivals and receiving full scholarships: Blue Lake Fine Arts, Eastern Music Festival, Interlochen String Symposium, Bay View Music Festival, and the String Workshop in Graz, Austria.

Ms. Buchko was a member of the Orlando Philharmonic, Florida Chamber Orchestra, Brevard Symphony, Violinist for Walt Disney World, Brevard Symphony, Williamsport Symphony, Altoona Symphony, and the Hershey Pops. Currently, Ms. Buchko performs with The National String Symphonia.

Ms. Buchko's professional memberships include the Virginia Band & Orchestra Association/Virginia Music Educator's Association, American String Teacher's Association and is currently the All-County Orchestra Chair for Loudoun County Public Schools.
