    Loudoun Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Developmental Services Prevention Staff will discuss the different types of bullying with an emphasis on cyber-bullying. The presentation will provide participants with a clear understanding of the impact bullying can have on our youth.

    The importance of taking action will also be covered. Investigators from Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will provide a brief overview of criminal street gangs that are known to have a presence in Loudoun County. Photographs and basic indicators of criminal street gang participation will be shared including but not limited to: clothing, trends, graffiti, and criminal acts. In addition to discussing the visible aspects, investigators will briefly discuss some notable cases that have occurred in Loudoun County in recent years.

    The presentation will also focus on identification, enforcement, and prosecution of criminal street gangs. Participants will be able to ask questions of our presenters following the two presentations.

    This workshop is for middle and high school parents who would like to learn how to navigate Naviance Student to better support their students in career and college exploration. Naviance Student is a college and career readniness technology platform used in all middle and high schools. Students use this software to search career and college information, compre self and career assessments, search scholarships, and apply to colleges.

    "Just Like Will"

    Parents are invited to a private screening of the movie "Just Like Will", produced by Theresa Wheeler in association with Varla Dogwood Films. It is a documentary of a mother's unique, inspirational journey after her son's suicide. She joins a cast of a rock opera to remind teens and their families that there is always a light beyond the dark.

    The invitation to participate in the free screening is extended to staff of middle schools and high schools in LCPS by A Place to Be, located in Middleburg, VA.

    Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Public Schools’ Student Assistance Services are teaming up for this informative parent only presentation focusing vaping and internet safety. Parents will learn the detailed information about the trends and risk associated with vaping devices and will gain advice on how to talk to their children about the dangers. This presentation will also teach parents techniques for keeping their children safe while online and using technology.
