GRADING POLICIES – 2019-2020
Grading: Grades are comprised of 100 % summative assessments and 0% formative assessments. Students will be evaluated on the following summative assessments: quizzes, tests, projects, mid-year and final assessments and quarterly CPAs (communicative proficiency assessment). Mastery of reading, writing, listening and speaking in German per level is the goal. LCPS grading scale link:

WLC Dept. Retake Policy - Students are eligible for a retake only if they have not achieved mastery (scored below a 93%) on a summative assessment. Students may not receive a score greater than 93% on any retake attempt. The retake is a single attempt.
Students are eligible for a re-take under the following conditions. All retake attempts must be completed within two weeks after having been returned the original, and all work related to the assignment must be completed as well as remedial work by the re-take date. There will be a single re-take attempt. The higher of the two grades will be retained. District benchmarks and CPAs are not eligible for retakes.
Make-Up Policy: You are responsible for your make-up work. You will have 1 day per day missed to make up work. Work not completed within this time frame will receive an incomplete until the last class day of quarter. Tests and quizzes need to be made up before school or by appointment.
Students who have demonstrated “reasonable effort” will be given a 50%.
