Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Barker

Hello! My name is Kristen Barker and I am one of the P.E. teachers here at Ashburn Elementary. This will be my 15th year as an educator and I feel like I am still learning new things every year!

I attended both Virginia Tech and George Mason University during my college career. I have a background in Elementary Education as well as Physical Education. I began my teaching career in the 4th grade classroom in Clarke County and made the transition to PE after coming to Loudoun County.

I was born and raised in Loudoun County and a graduate of Broad Run High School! Go Spartans!  Some of my favorite sports to play are softball, tennis, and volleyball. I also love to watch football and baseball.  My favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Nationals! When I am not playing sports, coaching, or playing outside with my family-- I love to cook, read, and spend time with friends. I have a 10 year-old daughter, 6 year-old son, and an 2 year-old daughter. We also have an energetic puppy at home that keeps our family very busy!

I love teaching children at a young age how to be active and healthy for life!  I have always had a passion for physical education. My parents always knew I would be a PE teacher! Throughout my childhood I was always inventing games that I would make my brothers play with me and I spent all of my spare time outside wrapped up in physical activity!  So, this is a dream job to me and I am committed to sharing my passion and enthusiasm for physical fitness and lifelong activities with every student.

Here’s to a great year at Ashburn! Go Golden Dolphins!
