    Welcome to Mrs. Buckman's Class

    Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am excited to start the year together and meet all of you. I have been teaching at Meadowland for over 30 years.  This is my thrity-fourth year of teaching. I have taught kindergarten, preschool, first and second grade. I have a masters in curriculum and instruction and concentration in reading. I also have my ELL certificate and teach Advanced Conversation to Adult English Language Learners. I have a daughter, Katie, who works for Disney.  She is also a Meadowland graduate. i enjoy going to the beach, reading a good book, and taking walks with Cookie, our family dog.

This summer, I spent a lot of time with my family.  I also was able to visit my daughter, Katie in Florida.  We were able to visit Animal Kingdom.  We love Disney.   As a matter of fact, you will see a lot of the Disney characters in our classroom. I love the aspiration of the theme “When you wish upon a star” and “Believe”.  Along with being a" Fearless leader", "Believe in yourself" will also be our motto.  Make the wishes of learning begin!

I have high expectations for a successful and great year and I'm sure you do as well. I hope to see you all at our pick up day for computers.

Let's work together as a team to make your child's year a wonderful learning adventure. I look forward to working with your child and seeing him/her grow in reading and writing.   Let's work together as we embark on our social distance learning.  We are all in this together.

Our first units will be citizenship, safety, counting numbers and patterns. We will be using literature across the curriculum to incorporate the standards of learning. Please take your child to the library to read and discuss his/her favorite story.
