Welcome students and parents! My name is Jessica Jarlsberg, and I am thrilled to be a part of the RLC fifth grade team again this school year! I was born and raised in beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I attended Millersville University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Elementary Education. After graduating, I acquired a sixth-grade teaching position in the Central Bucks School District and enjoyed teaching there for five years. During my time in CB, I orchestrated and directed a dance team of 80 boys and girls in 4th through 6th grade, coached students during Reading Olympics competitions, as well as encouraged students to be leaders while working on an environmentally friendly green team. This past school year at RLC I enjoyed participating in STEM Night, choreographing our RLC half time dance, as well as teaching STEM and Drama during our Summer Camp.
Along with those passions, I am a strong proponent of being a lifelong learner and obtained my Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on Social and Emotional Learning from Neumann University. When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing with my puppies, trying new local cuisine, and staying active through exercise.
Regarding my philosophy of education, I believe in teaching to the whole child, while fostering a growth mindset where students learn the power of failure while striving for success. It brings me great joy to see my students not only learning key academic skills, but further developing their individual passions. I value open communication and collaboration with parents to ensure each child’s individual needs are met. My goal is for students to gain the independence to seek out challenging tasks and tackle them with gumption and resiliency.
Your child can look forward to engaging in personalized learning as well as solving authentic, challenging problems with a real-world application. Students will take ownership of their learning as they develop 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and effective communication while being empathetic to others.
I’m looking forward to building personal connections with your children, and can’t wait for our journey to begin!
