Hello 5th graders and families! My name is Lauren Gray and I am so excited for my second year at Rosa Lee Carter. As a teacher, I strive for students to feel supported throughout their learning journey. This support stems from consistent collaboration, communication, inquiry, and learning alongside one another, as a teacher and a student.
I was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, which is right outside of Philadelphia. State College is my second home, where I studied for four years at Penn State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. Go Nittany Lions! I am so excited that this journey has brought me to Ashburn, Virginia and Rosa Lee Carter. In my free time, I love to play the guitar and sing along to my favorite songs. You can also find me outdoors and in nature. One of my favorite places is Ocean City, New Jersey, where I vacation with my family every year to enjoy the beach. I also have a passion for traveling, as I have been to numerous islands outside of the U.S, in addition to Colombia in South America and Mexcio. One of my goals is to visit Europe within the next five years!
This year I am excited to foster a community that supports, cares, aids, and collaborates with one another. Preparing students to be mindful learners, as well as individuals, is one of my goals this year and continues to be one of my own personal goals. I can wait for our adventure in 5th grade this year!
