Hello students and families! I warmly welcome you to fifth grade at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary. My name is Hannah Mohler and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to get to know your child in our classroom this school year. I am thrilled to have a year full of setting goals, achieving those goals, exploring new ideas and ways of thinking, challenging ourselves, and making memories that will last a lifetime!

I live in Leesburg, VA and graduated elementary, middle, and high school here in Loudoun County. I attended James Madison University where I received my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and my Masters of Arts in Teaching. I completed my student teaching in Loudoun County at Ball’s Bluff Elementary School in 2nd and 3rd grade. I have also completed practicum experiences in Kindergarten, 4th and 5th grades in Harrisonburg, VA. At JMU, I was involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters for four years, which continues to impact my life in many ways. I was fortunate to study abroad for a month in Orotina, Costa Rica where I lived with a Spanish-speaking host family, went on different excursions exploring the country, and got to spend time in an elementary school. I have also traveled to the Bahamas and worked in the Uriah McPhee Primary School to teach the importance of physical activity. During my time at JMU, I was a member of the Women’s Club Lacrosse team for four years and a member of the Sport Club Council at the recreation center for two years.

When I’m not teaching, I love to spend time with my friends, family and two Labrador retrievers, Bailey and Bethany. I have a great passion for traveling and embracing new cultures and ways of thinking about the world. I enjoy sports, especially lacrosse, and activities in nature like hiking. If I’m not at home in Leesburg, you will find me at the beach soaking up the sun and reading a good book.

In our classroom this year, we will focus on building a kind classroom community, dive deep into project based learning, personalized learning, and practice using a growth mindset. I am very excited to work alongside you this year to ensure that your child is successful throughout his/her learning journey! Please contact me if you need anything or have any questions. This will be a fantastic year in fifth grade!
