Mr. Randy Reay
Welcome to Belmont Ridge Middle School Health & Physical Education. This year I will be guiding our 8th grade students as they continue to learn about the importance of health and physical activity. My interest in health and fitness began in my own middle school years in an attempt to improve body composition and overcome several health issues. In the process I learned that our physical health (and physical activity) plays a large role in developing other aspects of human wellness and provides us with tools, such as coping skills, that allow us to establish balance in our daily lives.
Through my late teens, and in college, I worked as a personal trainer and assisted in local Physical Therapy practices. In 2008 I received my BS in Exercise Science from James Madison University and later became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Specialist under the NSCA. I continued my fitness career after college training clients out of my home gym, and a few year later, opened a fitness facility where I worked with many adults, teens, and adolescents. After several years I realized that my passion was in working with teens/adolescents and teaching them how to lead healthy lifestyles. This compelled me to make a purposeful career shift that would allow me to have a greater influence on our community. Outside of BEMS I enjoy spending time with my wife and two boys, and continue my own fitness journey at the gym and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I look forward to a succesful year with you at Belmont Ridge Middle School!
