Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Glover

My Name is Laurie Glover and I am the full-time art teacher here at Lowes Island! The 2020-2021 school year will be my 6th year teaching art. I love the positive and fun environment of learning our school encourages. In my art room I promote an engaged and fun learning style to teach the students about different artists, art history, art techniques, and art mediums. I strive to teach my students about the importance in artistic subjects and how art can be integrated into other academic subjects such as: math, social studies, science, and language arts. The students in my class create a wide variety of beautiful and unique projects throughout the year. I am always blown away by the creativeness and skills of my wonderful students. I truly believe each student is his or her own artist.

Personal Bio

I got my BFA at Columbus College of Art and Design in Graphic Arts minoring in Graphic Design.  Prior to teaching, I worked at CBS Entertainment in Los Angeles, as a graphic artist.  Then as a freelance artist for clients including Disney, Hanna Barbera, and Applause Collectables among others. After my family relocated to Virginia, I pursued teaching through the Career Switcher Program through Shenandoah University.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, my two Siamese cats and Vizla puppy. I am so excited for another awesome year and I can't wait to see where our imaginations take us!!
