Hello! This is my 6th year teaching at Pinebrook (13th year overall). I am from Scranton, PA and graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology. Go LIONS! I worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach right out of college (in PA and Los Angeles) and then decided my passion was teaching young children. I was a Lead Physical Education Teacher in Fairfax County for 5 years. I have experience writing/ revising state standards of learning, curriculum writing, and leading professional developments for Physical Education. For two years of my academic career, I had the experience working on a grant as a teacher training model for organized movement in the classroom aligned with classroom and Physical Education SOL’s. I worked closely with classroom teachers, which helped me to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge of what goes on outside of the gym setting.
I live in Haymarket with my husband and 9 year old twin boys. We love to play outside, listen to music, and watch Penn State Football, Yankees, and Giants! We also enjoy traveling to the beach. When I get a chance to be alone (haha) I love to read, run, and drink coffee (not at the same time!).
I have a place in my heart for teaching the younger generation how to lead healthy, happy, lives! My goal is to make sure every child feels comfortable in Physical Education class and hopefully takes away some activity (individual or sport) that they can do outside of school. A holistic approach involving physical and mental health is top priority to a successful student.
