Mrs. Crosnicker

Hello, my name is Laura Crosnicker or Mrs. C as I have my students sometimes call me; formerly known as Ms. Whelpley. Born in NY but grew up in Wisconsin, the oldest of three (with two younger brothers.) After graduating from Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin with a bachelor’s in education and a minor in literacy, I decided to move to Arizona. However, I’m still a Packer fan!

Arizona is where I spent the first decade of my career teaching second, third and fourth grades. During my fifth year of teaching, I received my master’s degree in education from Northern Arizona University. The last three years in fourth grade, I taught an accelerated program that focuses on Core Knowledge Content and Singapore Math.

When I moved to Arizona, I joined the Junior League of Phoenix, which allowed me to give back to my community and continued that service when I moved to Virginia.

Moving to Virginia allowed me to be closer to family and now we all live in the same time zone! I met my husband here and we got married in October 2020 during the pandemic.

This year I will be teaching fifth grade again and look forward to my 16th year of teaching and being a part of the Lowes Island Elementary School community.
