    Mrs. Lees

Hello Gator Family! My name is Denise Lees and I am excited to say that this will be my sixth year teaching here in Loudoun County.  For the last five years, I taught fifth grade at both Goshen Post and Rosa Lee Carter Elementary with Principal Ann Hines, and am excited for my new adventure to first grade to expand my professional growth.  Before Rosa Lee Carter, I moved across the Atlantic Ocean from London, England, where I was previously teaching at the Wycombe Abbey School. Prior to working in the United Kingdom, I received my Masters Degree from the College of William and Mary in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction as well as my Undergraduate Degree in Psychology. Through psychology, I was able to work and conduct research with foster care children as well as gifted and talented children. Currently I am pursuing a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration with George Mason University and will complete this degree in December.  I am a Northern Virginia native and live in Ashburn with my husband Tim.

Teamwork and collaboration have always been high priorities in my life. In addition to teaching, I also coach lacrosse and was previously the Head Varsity Girls Lacrosse Coach for Tuscarora High School in Leesburg.  During my time at William and Mary, I played for the varsity Division I Women’s Lacrosse team, and coached two youth lacrosse teams on the side. I have been a part of an endless number of sports teams and am now, more than ever, ready to form a new team, one with you and your child. I hope we can set goals together and strive for success at every step of the way. I am extremely active and I LOVE playing outside with your children.  Please feel free to let me know when they have a sporting event or ANY outside activity I can attend. I do my best to see all of my students at least once outside of the classroom!!!

I am looking forward to creating a new and lasting team with you; one that cultivates individual development, growth, and a love for learning.  I believe in the whole student and our classroom will be filled with authentic, deeper learning experiences.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.  In addition, you can sign up for my class REMIND or follow us on social media: Class Twitter: LeesLegoLand
