• Mrs. Unger

Welcome Goshen Gator families! My name is Mrs. Unger and I am thrilled to be here at Goshen Post Elementary as your librarian! Reading is my passion, second only to teaching and working with children. I know how important it is to build a love of reading at a young age. I will make it my priority to establish strong relationships with the children and staff here at Goshen Post so that we can build a strong community of readers together.

This year will be my 21st year teaching in Loudoun County Public Schools. I was lucky enough to be a part of the opening staff here at Goshen Post. Before that, I was a classroom teacher in the first and third grades. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech. Additionally, I was also able to complete my Reading Specialist and Library Media Specialist certifications. Loudoun County has been my home for the last 21 years. I currently live in Ashburn with my husband and two wonderful daughters, who are students here in Loudoun County. Our family also includes a guinea pig and our feisty dog, Patty. When I am not running around with my kids, I am curled up with a new book, or completing a knitting project.

A library Media Specialist’s role is to work in collaboration with the school community to ensure school and county goals are being met, as well as to work alongside the classroom teacher in supporting and enriching classroom instruction. It is important that I carefully consider what materials to introduce into the library collection, as well locate online resources and technology that can further enhance the curriculum. I will strive to provide a positive, informative and flexible learning space for all Goshen Post students and teachers. Because we are a Project Based Learning design school, here in the library, we are always available to participate in class projects and enhance the PBL experience.
