My name is Mrs. Rachael Guizard (you can call me Mrs. G!) and this is my tenth year teaching in Loudoun County. I was one of the founding members of Goshen Post Elementary. I am so happy to be welcoming you to your child's first year as a Goshen Gator! I have never been as excited for anything as I am to be a part of this community. I grew up close by in Centreville Virginia, and later attended Christopher Newport University. I currently live in Centreville with my husband, my son Luke, and our spunky Goldendoodle, Archer. Before I made my way back to Northern Virginia, I earned a Bachelors degree in Ancient World History and a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education. While teaching at Rosa Lee Carter, I worked in both Kindergarten and First Grade and became heavily trained in PBIS (positive behavior management), Social Thinking, and Project-Based Learning (PBL). These things have grown to be driving forces in my teaching philosophy. When I am not teaching or planning awesome things for us to do at school, I enjoy reading and spending time with my dear family and friends. I am most excited to help all my students become better readers. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as a child who hates reading, just a child who has not found the right books yet! The best thing about Kindergarten is developing a love of learning that will carry through an entire lifetime. I am so excited to help instill that thirst for knowledge in all of the Kindergarten Gators! I truly believe that Kindergarten is all about fostering independence, providing hands-on experiences that will create background knowledge for all subsequent learning, developing critical social skills and expressive language, sparking curiosity, and learning to absolutely LOVE school. I am a big proponent of teachers and parents working together as a unified front to help each child grow. I feel confident that as we work together, we will make your child's first year at Goshen Post one of the most memorable years of their life.
