Virtual Loudoun
  • Virtual Loudoun (VL) is a program that offers interactive online courses to secondary students. Courses are delivered using a course learning management system called VISION through the Internet and available to students 24 hours a day. Students are actively engaged in online discussions and learn to track messages, submit documents electronically, and can meet online with teachers and students through a virtual classroom if needed. Today, students just like you are are earning high school credits online through Virtual Loudoun.
    Virtual Loudoun courses are not available to middle school students during Terms 1 and 2. They may enroll in one (1) course in Term 3-Spring/Summer Session. Available courses are listed in the chart below. Please see our Term Dates page for start/ end dates and registration deadlines for this term.

    Rising 9th Yes Econ/Personal Finance or Health/PE 9 
    orWorld Languages and Math courses that follow the established course progression.
    Rising 8th Yes - Math Courses

    Must complete Middle School Course progression and understand that further courses may NOT be available at the Middle School level

    Rising 7th Yes—Foundations of Algebra School Recommendation required
    Rising 6th No None


    Term 3: Spring /Summer - 10-week term

    Registration begins on Monday, April 18, 2022, and closes on Wednesday, May 11, 2022

    Classes begin on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, and end on Friday, August 05, 2022.

    The last day in Term 3 to drop a Virtual Loudoun course is June 24, 2022--no indication of course on the student's transcript.

    Students may withdraw from a virtual course between June 25 and July 15 with a Withdraw Pass (WP) if the current grade, determined by progress measured by the course pacing guide, is 60 or higher, or a Withdraw Fail (WF) if the current grade is below 60. These withdrawals will have no impact on GPA.

    For all students, June 24, 2022, is the last day to pay for a Virtual Loudoun course, or request a refund.


    Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:

    • A rising 6th grader may not take Math 7 in LCPS summer as a new course.
    • Students are not permitted to audit Virtual Loudoun courses.
