Look! Out in the hall!  It’s an IT analyst...  It’s a program manager… No, it’s my dad!

Dragon Dads is a program aimed at bringing male volunteers into Arcola.  Dads, stepdads, granddads, and uncles are welcome to participate.  This program was introduced at Arcola in the 2017-2018 school year and is similar to other father engagement programs in place at schools nationwide. It has been very successful, and we are happy to continue it again his year.

Engaging with students even on a single day of the school year has a tremendous impact on school morale and shows children that fathers place importance on their education.  Having father figures at Arcola also creates new opportunities for teachable moments and positive interaction with both boys and girls alike.

All father figures have one thing in common:  they are heroes in their children’s eyes.  What you do at work all day long isn’t who you really are, it’s your alter ego.  When you volunteer at Arcola, you get to shed your Clark Kent disguise and walk the halls as the superhero underneath.  Said I’m gonna be like him, yeah, You know I'm gonna be like him.  And the cat's in the cradle and the...

Okay, so you got me tearing up… where do I sign up?

Sign up to be a Dragon Dad! If you have any questions about the program, please contact the coordinator, John Horn.
