    Beliefs Statement

    I believe:

    • all students are unique, and when given a safe, nurturing environment, will succeed to their fullest potential
    • all students should have access to a high quality education
    • School Counselors are advocates for every student
    • all students have the right to be heard and treated with respect
    • Applying the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors empowers school counselors to make decisions based on the highest moral principles to promote the maximum development of every student

    Mission Statement

    The School Counselor works collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to positively impact the lives of students in a nurturing environment by respecting their differences, facilitating learning, encouraging growth, and discovering ways to give each child a bright, successful future. The School Counselor’s program is child-centered, developmental, and preventative.  It encourages the students’ academic, social/emotional, and career awareness at each stage of their development.

    The VISION of the School Counseling Program:

    • reach ALL students
    • is comprehensive
    • is proactive
    • is an integral part of the educational program for student success
    • utilizes the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Standards as the foundation for a guidance curriculum that supports academic, career and personal/social development
    • ensures a delivery system that provides school guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services and system support
    • is implemented by a licensed school counselor and is conducted in collaboration with students, teachers, administrators, and families
    • uses data to drive counseling activities
    • monitors student progress
    • abides by the professional school counseling ethics
