    Q & A

Does a student need to be identified as gifted and talented (Spectrum Program) to be eligible for an honors course?  No

Does a student need to receive a pass-advanced score (500-600) on their previous SOL test?  No, not all honor students are great tests takers.  However, a student’s SOL score may be considered when making a recommendation.

Does a student need to receive an A in your class to make a recommendation for honors?  No.  Like SOL scores, a quarterly grade is one of many indicators that should be considered when making a recommendation.
