• Welcome to Briar Woods High School!!Math Rulez

Hello Students and Parents! I am Mrs. Ahuja. I live in Ashburn and have two daughters. Both are married. I have 3 grandkids that I really adore and love. I am very excited to teach  Advanced Functions and modeling this year.  I have over 23 years of teaching experience. This is my 13th year at Briar Woods High School and I love it here. I am available before school at 8:15 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with prior appointment for extra help.

I  post resources on phoenix which can be accessed by students .I will post daily assignments for each class on the assignment calendar (which can be accessed through the link on the left of the screen).
    • Adv Functions (Green)

I use the point system to calculate grades i.e. total points earned divided by the total points possible.
Classwork and homework sheets will be attached on parentvue. Homework will be worth no more than 10% of the quarter grade.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me or email me at vandana.ahuja@lcps.org

Mastery Reassessment – Any student scoring below an 80% on a test will have the opportunity to retake an alternate version of the test to demonstrate mastery of the material. The maximum earned score on the retake is an 80%.

Extra Help:  The Math Resource Center in Room L406 is open every block and staffed by math faculty members who are there to help you with any concepts you are struggling with. Request a pass from me so that you can go during your Study Hall. I am available for extra help before or after school, by prior arrangement.

    Grading System

Each quarter grade will be calculated using Total Points Earned ÷ Total Points Available.  Grades will be posted to Phoenix as often as possible.  The school codes of “X” (exempt) and “Z” (needs to make up but calculated as a zero) will be used.

    Math Resource Center

Briar Woods High School has a designated math resource center that you can access during your study hall block.  You may request a pass to the math resource center from me any time you would like additional help.  I will also recommend that you attend the math resource center any time I feel you would benefit from additional help with a particular concept, especially for remediation prior to SOLs.  Please note that you must have a pass to attend the resource center.

    Cell Phones & Electronic Devices

Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed during instructional time.
