    Class Rules, Rewards and Consequences

Our class rules follow the 3Rs-responsible, respectful, and ready to learn.

Rewards-As the teachers (Mrs. Bigler, Mrs. Hall and I) see students following the 3Rs, the teachers will put a strip of paper into the student’s “Practically Perfect Behavior” pocket.  At the end of the week, students go shopping with their strips for activities such as-Bring a stuffed animal, Bring an item to share, Wear PJs for the day, etc.  Students will bring a coupon home to let you know what special reward they chose.

Consequences-First, students will get a warning for not following a class rule.  If the behavior continues, the student will write his/her own name on a whiteboard out of sight at the front of the room.  If the behavior continues, the student puts a check next to his/her name.  If it continues, I will contact you through a note, email, or phone call.  My last resort is talking with Mr. or Miss Davis.

We reviewed how to write a correct sentence this week and how to write a personal narrative story.  The students were reminded that sentences need capital letters at the beginning and punctuation at the end.  Also, a sentence needs to stay on one topic and make sense.

No spelling words for the last two weeks of school.

    Content News

We will continue working on maps.  This would be a good time to make sure your child knows his or her entire address.  Some of the students did not know what town they live in or what street they live on.

We will also be starting a unit on force and motion.

Recess and PE Appropriate Shoes and a Sweater

Please remember to wear (or bring) shoes that are appropriate for recess and PE.

Also, as it gets warmer outside it gets colder inside.  Some of the students may want to bring in a lightweight sweater to leave in the classroom to wear when they get cold.

With the spring and summer-like weather upon us, I’d like to remind you that we have recess every day and PE three times a week.  During these activities, it is important that the students wear appropriate shoes for their safety.  Flip-flops and sandals are super cute, but not the safest to wear while running.  Students can bring a pair of shoes to change into.  Thanks for helping with this.
