Mrs. Hoey-Johnson very excited to begin her 9th year at Meadowland Elementary School and 10th year with LCPS. Mrs. Hoey-Johnson has previously taught at Lowes Island Elementary School in Sterling, VA and John W. Tolbert Elementary School in Leesburg, VA.
Mrs. Hoey-Johnson strives for every student to have a meaningful and balanced music education. She as taken course work with clinician Carol Kreuger on developing independent musical skills. Mrs. Hoey-Johnson believes that music is an aural and performance art and accounts for this in her lesson planning. In addition, she has also taken classes with Will Schmid's World Music Drumming sessions; providing a diverse curriculum of world music to her classroom. Mrs. Hoey-Johnson loves working with her elementary school students and uses many of John Feierabend's approaches in her instruction. She provides a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.
Mrs. Hoey-Johnson graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory (BMEd),cum laude, with teaching certifications in vocal, instrumental, and general classroom music K-12.In her free time, Mrs. Hoey-Johnson enjoys playing guitar and ukulele, singing, playing flute, cooking and crafting. Mrs. Hoey-Johnson is a district representative for Virginia Elementary Music Educators Association (VEMEA) and holds professional membership with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
Mrs. Hoey-Johnson greatly enjoys participating in community theatre. Originally from Shippensburg, PA; she currently resides in Berryville with her husband, their cat, Molly Jones, and son, Clyde.
