Mentor Requirements and Responsibilities: Completion of electronic application (2017-18 applications currently being accepted) Recommendation of current administrator On a continuing contract Participation in four hours of professional development Applicants who have never attended LCPS mentor training must attend a 4-hour training session. Sessions are currently available on My Learning Plan. Experienced mentors who have recently participated in the mentor program will not attend any sessions in the summer. They will attend a one-hour refresher conducted by the lead mentor in their school. Participation in first meeting with protégés Monday, August 14, 12:30-3:30 Meeting with protégé(s) a MINIMUM of one hour each month outside of contract time Electronic documentation of time working with protégés August-June Alert appropriate administrator to concerns and issues MENTORS MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO communicate with adults recognize and respond to needs of new hires as needed MENTORS MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF grade/subject content and SOL's

-Mentors will receive an annual stipend of $800 for one protégé, half at the end of the first semester and half at the end of the year. Assignment of each additional protégé is an additional $100 ($50 first semester and $50 at the end of the year).-Mentors will receive one recertification point per clock hour under option 6.-Mentors are eligible to receive a total of 90 recertification points per licensure cycle. One point per clock hour will be awarded each year for documented mentoring service as outlined under option 6.
-APPLICANTS WHO ARE CHOSEN TO MENTOR WILL BE CONTACTED BY THEIR SCHOOL'S LEAD MENTOR BEFORE THE OPENING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. -APPLICANTS MUST ATTEND THE SELECTED SUMMER TRAINING SESSION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED IN THE "POOL" OF ELIGIBLE MENTORS. FAILURE TO ATTEND THE WORKSHOP SELECTED ON MY LEARNING PLAN WILL REMOVE AN APPLICANT FROM THE LIST.
