Hi, my name is Margie Lazo, and I am an EL teacher here at Algonkian Elementary.  I team with the classroom teachers to help students improve their social and academic English language skills.  This will be my eleventh year as an LCPS teacher, and my seventh as an EL teacher.  I have a special education background (MEd from University of Virginia) and a theater background (BA from Mount Holyoke and MFA from University of Virginia) and am always seeking creative ways to make speaking, reading and writing English fun for our students.  I received my EL endorsement through George Mason University.

When I am not at school, I work on theater productions for the Sterling Playmakers, enjoy crafts and sewing, read voraciously, and play strategy games with my husband, two daughters, and friends.

I will continue to be an advisor for the Green Team.  This fifth grade team does weekly recycling, participates in projects that support our status as a wildlife sanctuary, and gets inventive with upcycling whenever possible.
