• My wedding in June! My dogs Image result for welcome back to school

Hello! My name is Samantha Schray, and this is my fourth full year teaching at Meadowland Elementary! I graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science, and then again in 2016 with my Master of Arts in Teaching! Prior to teaching at Meadowland, I completed practicums in K-5 classrooms in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and my student teaching placement in both third and fifth grade at Meadowland Elementary School! I am also an alumnae of Loudoun County Public schools and have lived here all of my life! I got married this past June, and spent a lot of my summer traveling with my husband and two dogs!

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with family. I am also an avid DC sports fan! I am extremely excited to be a part of the Meadowland community, and am looking forward to a great school year!

I am so excited to have you in my class this year, and am ready to teach you many new and amazing things! In math, we will cover topics such as place value, rounding, multiplication and division, as well as geometry! In reading, we will be exploring many fiction and non-fiction texts, and will learn to dig deep into the text to become a super star reader! In science, we will complete STEM activities and hands-on experiments to explore topics such as scientific investigation, animal adaptations, the properties of matter, and natural cycles. In social science, we will investigate how our government works, our world's continents and oceans, and famous European explorers!

    Homework:

Each night, students will be given math, spelling, and reading homework. Homework should not take more than 20-30 minutes to complete. Students will be given four math problems each night, and will be expected to track their daily reading through a reading log. These homework assignments will help to reinforce what is taught in class, and will help students prepare for their upcoming SOL tests! In addition, students should also be taking the time to review math facts.

    Snack:

Students are permitted to bring a healthy, peanut-free snack to school each day.

Be ready to work hard in third grade! I can't wait to meet you and to have a fantastic school year!

    -Mrs. Schray :)
