The Advanced Placement program is a cooperative education endeavor with the College Board. Advanced Placement courses, often known as AP, allow students the opportunity to take college-level courses while they are enrolled in high school. Students enrolled in an AP course should expect extensive reading, writing, and critical thinking.
In the spring, Heritage students are encouraged to take the nationally standardized AP examinations issued by the College Board. AP classes are weighted by 1.0 in the grade point average calculation process if the student passes the course. Colleges may award academic credit and/or special class placement if a student earns a qualifying score on the exam. Students are not required to take the exam to earn the 1.0 weighting, however, the student would not be eligible for college credit by not taking the exam.
Students, parents, or guardians are responsible for the costs of the AP exams. Each exam is $85.00, and this cost must be paid by March 1, 2019. Students who register for an AP test after this deadline will be charged a $55.00 late fee, per late test registration, in addition to the $85.00 exam fee. The College Board does not allow for exam drops or adds after April 18, 2019. Requests for refunds should be directed to Mrs. Cathy Kelly in Heritage School Counseling. The amount refunded will be $70 as College Board charges a $15 unused exam fee. Requests for refunds will not be accepted after April 18, 2019.

Registration Requires TWO Parts and is due FRIDAY, March 1st:
1) Complete the Online AP Exam Registration Form
2) Complete Payment through the LCPS online portal or by check made out to 'HHS' given to Mrs. Cathy Kelly in the Counseling Department.
