• Why should you have your own graphing calculator?

The Virginia Standars of Learning End-of-Course test now incorporates only the DESMOs calculator for Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2.  Students have access to DESMOs on their student devices.  Therefore, students will not have access to a graphing calculator in these courses.

The graphing calculator is an integral tool of an algebra based math course.  Although students will have access to a graphing calculator in their advanced math classes, it is very beneficial for students to have access to a graphing calculator outside of school.  The graphing calculator allows students to explore functions, analyze data and model real-world applications efficiently and accurately.  Because of the graphing calculator, students are able to draw connections between functions, their graphs, and solutions.  The students will only have access to a graphing calculator for AP Calculus and AP Statistics advanced placement tests.

Heritage has a limited number of TI-84 Plus CE and TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition Graphing Calculators.

The Mathematics Department strongly recommends students purchase and use their own TI-84 Graphing Calculators.

If students purchase TI products, please, cut out the "TI Technology Rewards" symbols from the packages of the TI products and bring them to Mrs. Gresh in room 207.  Heritage may use the points turned in to purchase technology for students to use at school.
