A goal of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is to help maintain your earnings throughout any period of disability resulting from a non-work related injury or illness. LCPS provides employer-paid short-term disability to all benefits eligible employees who participate in VRS Plan 1 or Plan 2 retirement program.
    Plan Highlights: 
    • Employees must file the claim directly with Cigna Disability (800-362-4462)
    • 20 calendar day elimination period;
    • Short-term Disability pays 60% of your salary, up to a maximum of 10 weeks from the first date of payment;
    • To keep your pay at 100% for as long as possible, LCPS allows you to supplement the short-term disability benefit with 40% from your sick leave, until the sick leave is exhausted or your disability period ends;
    • Short-term disability benefits for maternity are provided the same as for injury/illness.
    Benefits eligible employees enrolled in VRS Plan 1 or Plan 2 are automatically enrolled in this program
