My name is Alisa Kinney and I am happy to be a part of the fabulous fourth grade team at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary.
This will be my ninth year at Rosa Lee Carter, and my twelfth year teaching at the elementary level.  My prior experience includes teaching third and second grades for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.  Additionally, I  worked in higher education for 13 years as an admissions officer and program adviser for the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University, and an associate program director for The Quest Program at the University of Maryland.  I also earned my degrees from those schools, a BA in English Literature from Maryland, and a Masters in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University.
My goal is to make the learning experience for all students as personal and memorable as possible by connecting standards to students' lives and prior experience, as well as by investigating concepts through inquiry and hands on investigations.  I strive to learn each child's strengths and talents and determine where they need the most help to reach their full potential. I encourage my students to challenge themselves and each other to grow as thinkers and learners. Let’s have a great year together!
You may contact me at Alisa.Kinney@lcps.org or by calling the school at 703-957-4490.

    "Paws" for reading every day!
