My name is Alisa Kinney and I am so happy to be a part of the fabulous fourth grade team at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary. I truly enjoy teaching fourth graders. It is such a great age for learning and growing as individuals and as a community. I can't wait to be back in school in-person to meet my new fourth graders. This will be my twelfthh year at Rosa Lee Carter, and my fifteenth year teaching at the elementary level. My prior teaching experience includes teaching second grade at RLC, and third grade for Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. Additionally, I worked in higher education for 13 years as an admissions officer and program adviser for the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University, and an associate program director for The Quest Program at the University of Maryland. I also earned my degrees from those schools, a BA in English Literature from Maryland, and a Masters in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. As you will learn when you enter my classroom, I have a passion for nature and the great outdoors, and hope to share my love and knowledge about our natural world with all of the coyotes in my class. I love to spend time outdoors working in the yard or hiking in beautiful places, and I love to travel to learn about new places and cultures. I am also an avid reader, animal lover, and sports fan.My goal is to make the learning experience for all students as personal and memorable as possible by connecting standards to students' lives and prior experience, as well as by investigating concepts through inquiry and hands on investigations. I strive to learn each child's strengths and talents and determine where they need the most help to reach their full potential. I encourage my students to challenge themselves and each other to grow as thinkers and learners. Let’s have a great year together! You may contact me at firstname.lastname@example.orgPlease follow me on Twitter @Kinneyscoyotes"Paws" for reading every day!
