• Engle

Hello, my name is Kim Engle and I am very excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year.

This is my fifth year working with the kindergarten team at Rosa Lee Carter.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development with a concentration in Early Childhood Education (PK-4th) from Virginia Tech.  GO HOKIES!  This is my 11th year of teaching.  I have taught preschool, junior kindergarten, kindergarten enrichment and kindergarten in addition to teaching 2nd grade in Fairfax County.

I have a heart for early childhood education.  I feel like a nurturing and positive kindergarten experience helps foster a confident, motivated, and successful student.  In addition, I have a passion for encouraging a child's curiosity and love for learning.  My belief is that children learn best through hands on, collaborative, and explorative experiences.  I consider it to be a privilege to work alongside your child, helping them develop into a self-assured and eager learner.  Philosophically, I believe feeling valued and accepted builds confidence which helps children learn and grow into their best selves.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I have three children.  My oldest son graduated in June of 2020 from William and Mary.  I have a daughter who is a senior at George Mason University.  My youngest son is a sophomore at Stone Bridge High School.  Through my own experience, I have witnessed the importance of teachers and parents working together to support and encourage a child's growth both academically and socially.  I believe as a team we can make this year a success!
