Welcome to 2nd Grade!  The 2019-20 school year will be my ninth year teaching for LCPS, and my fourth year here at Rosa Lee Carter Elementary.  I received my B.A. in Psychology from Boston University in 1993 and my M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University in 2009.  Although I chose teaching a little later in life, it's not a surprise I ended up in this great profession because I grew up in a family full of teachers - my mom, dad, aunt, uncle and grandmother all created a legacy of teaching in New Hampshire that I am proud to continue here in Virginia.

When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, and being Mom to three great boys.  My youngest son Austin is a freshman at Potomac Falls High School, and my older two sons (fraternal twins) are juniors in college.  Owen is attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and Jack is attending Elon University in Elon, NC.

As a fellow parent, I can appreciate the dedication and hard work you put in to raising your children here in Loudoun County and the efforts you make toward helping them take advantage of all the enriching activities our area has to offer.  I look forward to being your partner in your child's educational growth and development this year.  Encouraging your child to read 20-30 minutes each night and completing homework are the best ways you can support your child at home.

Second grade is a lot of fun, and I enjoy seeing students' confidence and independence grow as they discover new things and challenge themselves in new ways.  I'm excited to work with you and your child this year!  Please feel free to contact me at colleen.taylor@lcps.org with any questions you may have about our classroom.
