Degrees and Certifications:

Miss Staples

I attended George Mason University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies and my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I'm licensed to teach Elementary Education PK-6 and Middle Ed 6-8: Mathematics. The 2023-2024 school year is my 18th working in Loudoun County Public Schools. I taught third and fifth grade for eight years, then worked for the Department of Instruction in the LCPS administration building for two and a half years. Missing working directly with students, I became an Instructional Facilitator, Technology, serving at Sterling Elementary for three and a half years, before moving to Horizon Elementary three years ago. My certifications include: Apple Teacher, Level 2 Adobe Creative Educator, Common Sense Educator, and Level 1 Google Certified Educator.

Originally from Berryville, Virginia, I grew up on a farm and was an active member of the FFA, 4-H, community outreach, band, and sports teams. I still love to be involved in these types of activities and to volunteer. Although I now live in Sterling Park, I often travel to my family farm and enjoy being outside and playing with my niece and nephew. I'm a Washington football fan, and my hobbies are baking fancy cakes for the Cake4Kids charity and playing volleyball locally.

I am proud to be a part of the Horizon Elementary family and work with some of the best students and staff in the county! I strive to contribute to the high quality of education our students receive that will help them make meaningful contributions to our world. If you ever have any questions or concerns, I am happy to help!
