FHS Academic Support Center
Frequently Asked Questions for Students
What is the Academic Support Center?
The Academic Support Center is a place for students to get help with every subject, every block, every day. The Center is staffed by trained student tutors who provide one-on-one conferences. A Math Department teacher serves as the supervisor. Students bring their assignments to Room 400 during their Eagles Connect classes on a walk-in basis. Occasionally, we will need to schedule you for a later date if the Center is particularly busy, but we will do our best to meet your needs.
How Do I Get Permission to Come for Tutoring?
Simply ask your Study Hall teacher for a pass to the Academic Support Center in Room 400. Once you arrive, you will sign in to the Center. Upon completion of the tutoring session, your tutor will complete a Google Form detailing what took place. This will be sent to your classroom teacher and will serve as your receipt.
What Do I Bring?
Please bring your assignment, your completed work so far, and any rubric you have been given. You may bring hard copies of these materials or a laptop with access to them.
What If My Teacher Requires Me to Come for Tutoring?
Then attendance is mandatory. If you have been referred by a teacher, it means that he or she thinks you will benefit from working with a peer tutor. Please come to the Academic Support Center with an open mind and a willingness to improve your academic skills.
