• Placement Guidelines (update May 1, 2020): Due to the COVID-19 situation, the Virginia Placement Tests (VPTs) are currently unavailable. At this point, we can use the following measures for assessment: SAT, ACT, High School transcript, GED, TOEFL-iBT, or ILETS-Academic (taken in the last five years). If a student is unable to use one of the measures above, they may use our placement site to complete self-assessments. For these self-assessments students must adhere to the rules and principles outlined in our NVCC Student Handbook: Academic Integrity.
The placement guidelines are different for graduating seniors and students seeking to take courses through Dual Enrollment. The placement site offers information about Dual Enrollment placement measures, but this information can also be found on the Dual Enrollment Procedures website:  https://www.nvcc.edu/dual-enrollment/checklist.html
