Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Brandon Kalbaugh
In all my years as an educator, I have never been more excited than to teach theatre at
Where else did I teach?
-I spent a lovely year as an English teacher at Freedom High School. Before that, I worked at the marvelous Mercer Middle School, where I also taught English, and served as the Drama Club advisor.
Wait! What about before all that?
-In a previous life I worked in the theatre, doing everything from acting to producing, directing, and writing plays. During my time in NYC, I cofounded the Two Spoons Theatre Company, performed in many off and off-off Broadway houses and independent films, and appeared in multiple comedy-improv troupes. As I started shifting gears, I was fortunate to work in the administrative offices at the Dramatists Guild and New Group Theatre. I also worked locally with the Washington National Opera, Young Actors' Theatre at RCC, Pied Piper Theatre, and a few other organizations.
Outside of school...
I have a lovely and talented wife (she took that photo!) and two young boys... Parker and Beckett (their faces adorn the walls of my room).
I continue to write plays, poems, short stories and novels in the wee hours of the morning.
I have a YouTube channel (in the works)
And, I still spend summers at YAT.
