Mrs. Jane Mouritzen

This is my 4th year at Sugarland Elementary as a reading specilalist. I joined Loudoun County Public School 15 years ago as a Teacher assistant in special education, I taught 1st and 2nd grade at Arcola Elementary for 9 years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology through the University of Natal in South Africa.  After a life long dream to be a teacher I graduated from the University of Shenandoah with a license in special and elementary education. I completed my Masters of education in Reading. I am excited to be working with the wonderful students and staff at Sugarland.

My family immigrated to the USA from South Africa 20 years ago. We were granted citizenship in 2007 and very proud to be American citizens. I have two beautiful children, my daughter Dana graduated from Virginia Tech last May and is now enetred the working world and moved out of home. My son, Ross is a junior at Virginia Tech (GO HOKIES). We are now officially "emptynesters". We have one pet cat Pumpkin. My husband owns his own buisness in Loudoun County. 

We all are huge socce fans and support Liverpool in the premier league and DC United locally, We adopted the Steelers as our football team. We all like to be active and travel. My favorite past time is to read and go for long walks.
