Mrs. Jane Mouritzen

This is my 6th year at Sugarland Elementary as a reading specilalist. I joined Loudoun County Public School 17 years ago as a Teacher assistant in special education, I taught 1st and 2nd grade at Arcola Elementary for 9 years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology through the University of Natal in South Africa.  After a life long dream to be a teacher I graduated from the University of Shenandoah with a license in special and elementary education. I completed my Masters of education in Reading. I am excited to be working with the wonderful students and staff at Sugarland.

My family immigrated to the USA from South Africa 22 years ago. We were granted citizenship in 2007 and very proud to be American citizens. I have two beautiful children, 25 and 22 years old. Both graduated from Virginia Tech - GO HOKIES!  We have one pet cat Pumpkin. My husband owns his own buisness in Loudoun County. 

We all are huge soccer fans and support Liverpool in the premier league and DC United locally, We adopted the Steelers as our football team. We all like to be active and travel. My favorite past time is to read and go for long walks.
