    Dear Arcola Families,

My name is Meghan Doherty and I'm proud to be the Dean of Arcola Elementary School.

Upon graduating from James Madison University, I student taught in Rome, Italy.  Living and teaching at Marymount International School was an incredible experience.  I came back to the U.S. and worked in my hometown of Manassas, VA.  There I taught full day Kindergarten and Third Grade.  After two years, a unique opportunity presented itself and I moved to Orlando, Florida.  I worked for Walt Disney Entertainment for over two years in Orlando, Florida and Tokyo, Japan.  My time with Disney was “magical.”   After working for Disney, I moved back to Virginia with hopes of teaching in Loudoun County.

I am fortunate to have been a member of the charter staff of Arcola and I have worked here for twelve years.  I was a member of our Third Grade team for five years.  I then moved into the role of Gifted Resource teacher, serving as a FUTURA teacher for five years.   I live in Leesburg and my favorite thing to do is spend time with my amazing family and friends.  I have five nieces and nephews who are all quite awesome.

I am a huge Redskins fan and love watching sports.  I still play soccer and spend my free time enjoying the great outdoors.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison, endorsements in Gifted Education and Administration, and a Masters of Education in Education Leadership from George Mason University.

The students, families, faculty, and staff of Arcola are very special to me.  I have watched, with pride, as Arcola has grown into a highly regarded elementary school. I am honored to be part of Arcola’s continued commitment to excellence.

I look forward to working with all of the wonderful students and families of Arcola and I thank you for your continued support.

    Sincerely,
    Meghan Doherty
