• Profile Picture Ms. Gittelman is thrilled to be teaching English 9H and 10A and coaching Cross-Country at Freedom. She previously taught 8th Grade English at J. Michael Lunsford Middle School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Maryland and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Gittelman worked as an Instructional Designer for 20 years, developing competency-based degree programs. Her favorite author is Roald Dahl, because his books always make reading a magical experience for her. Ms. Gittelman lives in South Riding with her husband and two sons, both Freedom HS students, and, when she's not teaching, enjoys training for and competing in triathlons.

    Daily classroom updates (including assignments and homework) will be posted in Google Classroom. Students should log in regularly to review what we did in class. This is especially important if they have been absent! 
     
    Required supplies for all students: 
    • ONE 1.5" or 2" binder
    • 5 tabs
    • Lined paper
    • Pens, pencils, highlighters (at least 2 of each)
    • Independent reading book (student choice)
