Ms. Paula Culvyhouse

Hi Red Wings!

My name is Paula Culvyhouse and I am excited about starting my eighth year at Cardinal Ridge. I earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from George Mason University and switched careers to become a certified English Learner (EL) teacher ten years ago. In 2022, I completed my master's in social and emotional learning through National University. When I am not teaching or studying, I coach the Cardinals, one of Loudoun County's Special Olympics softball teams. These athletes are some of my best teachers.

In the summer, you can find me swimming at my local pool or attending comedy improv classes. I also enjoy playing pickleball and Scrabble with my friends.

The four most important factors in a scholar's success are social and emotional learning, parental engagement, attendance, and goal-setting. Every day counts in elementary school because scholars are learning foundational academic and social and emotional skills that will impact them for the rest of their lives. Every year, our scholars set and meet English proficiency goals so they can track their own progress. My goal is to communicate and collaborate with families to ensure they understand the EL program. Our families are essential educational partners. Let's work together to ensure your scholar is in school every day so they can make continual progress. Please contact me with any questions or information about your child’s progress at paula.culvyhouse@lcps.org.
