Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Nekic graduated from Bowling Green State University. She completed her master’s program from Western Maryland in 2002 and received a M.S. in Education with a Concentration in Computer Science. Mrs. Nekic could not stop learning, so she continued her studies at George Mason where she took classes in administration. This will be Mrs. Nekic’s 31st year in education. She began her career teaching for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). During her 14 years with MCPS, she taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. She was also a Gifted and Talented teacher, Reading Facilitator and Staff Development teacher. Mrs. Nekic decided she wanted to work closer to home to be near her two wonderful boys; Garrett and Matthew. So she joined the Loudoun County family! She has taught at Lowes Island and Evergreen Mill Elementary. She worked both in and out of the classroom. Mrs. Nekic taught 2nd and 4th grade and was the Technology Resource teacher at both schools. Finally, Mrs. Nekic became a Pathways Facilitator for the county. She trained and coached over 700 teachers and developed on line modules to help train all the teachers in best practices for reading and writing! Finally, Mrs. Nekic was over the moon when she got hired at Cedar Lane as a first grade teacher. Every day she welcomed her students with a smile. Mrs. Nekic is excited now to be the Dean at Cedar Lane and is looking forward to a fabulous year!
