Final Parent Referral Window for the 23-24 school year (for only parents of gr4 and gr5 students):
Jan. 2, 2024 through Jan. 29, 2024. January 29 is a hard deadline. A signed hard copy of the Permission to Evaluate (grades 4 & 5 only) must be turned in to the GT teacher. No late forms will be accepted. The form you will need to print can be found here or on the LCPS website under a search for gifted education. Please see below for further details about the process.
All 3rd grade students will be evaluated, so parents of grade 3 students are not required to submit referrals.
A holistic review process will take place in late Spring of 2024. Students will be evaluated using ability testing (CogAT), achievement testing (current Reading and Math MAP data), and a portfolio comprised of creative problem-solving performance tasks. Eligibility is determined based on evidence of both potential and performance on the established indicators.
NOTE: Appeals to the LCPS Gifted Evaluation Process are for 5th grade HCA scholars ONLY.
