Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Lara Scanlon, and I'm looking forward to another fantastic year teaching fifth grade at Madison’s Trust Elementary.
I am starting my twenty-fifth year of teaching with experience teaching first grade, fifth grade, and special education at the middle school and high school levels in Loudoun County and Buffalo, New York.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the State University College of New York at Buffalo.
I am happy to be starting my fifth year at Madison's Trust Elementary. We as a fifth grade team have worked hard to establish a positive, rewarding, educational experience for our students, and I am certain that we will continue to keep our students inspired to explore, discover, and grow again this year. I am excited to continue incorporating innovative, "hands-on" personalized learning experiences within my classroom. We also have a lot more to look forward to in the 2020-2021 school year including virtual learning opportunities, computer science activities, and ways to chart our goals and reflect on our progress in the classroom.
In addition to teaching, I am also blessed with a wonderful family. I live in Leesburg with my 2 daughters and my husband. Throughout the school year we not only keep busy with schoolwork, but we also travel to high school sports events for my younger daughter, University of Virginia to visit my older daughter, and to see family in Buffalo, NY, New York City, and West Palm Beach, FL.
I look forward to beginning the school year and meeting all of my Madison’s Trust families. I am eager to work with all of you and hope to establish strong teacher - parent- student relationships.
