Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a research and evidenced-based practice for creating a common vision of behavioral expectations through consistent language and practices among staff and students. PBIS is a framework of tiered approaches to address ALL the needs of ALL the members of the school community.
The Loudoun County Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) Coordination team, through training and technical assistance, supports schools and alternative placement settings in creating and sustaining comprehensive systems which promote the academic, social and emotional well-being of all Loudoun County Public school students.
Our goal is to implement PBIS with fidelity in non-classroom, and classroom areas; to address the targeted needs of individual students, while providing support to all teachers, students and families.
Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding.
The purpose of school-wide PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm.
