    COURSE NAME: Technical Theatre 1/2                                                                                                                                        INSTRUCTOR: Ms. Laurie Halloran     

    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    Technical Theatre 1/2  is a course focusing on hands-on training.  Students will learn to operate the lighting equipment, the sound equipment, and various other technical devices found in a theatrical or production environment. Students will become proficient in safety, performance spaces, and terminology, while learning about different career paths and financial literacy in relation to the Performing Arts.

    PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

    Students will be able to perform the duties of a stage technician in Audio, Carpentry, or Lighting Crew in a live theater environment, while maintain safety at all times. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of how different technologies work together by utilizing learned skills to execute technical services in performances for public consumption.

    COURSE OUTLINE:                                                                                                                 

    • Audio: Mic placement, proper wire-up, Audio console programming and operation.

    • Lighting: Color, Lamp selection, Lighting console programming and operation.

    • Stage Management

    • Stress SAFETY in all areas.

    • Introduction to practices in scene design and construction.
