Mrs. Smith is very excited about introducing herself as your child’s EL Teacher.  This is her ninth year teaching at Creighton's Corner Elementary.
She grew up on the West Coast.  She moved with her husband and 3 girls to Ashburn 12 years ago. She is very happy to be in a family-friendly and educational community.
Mrs. Smith completed a Bachelor's Degree with a Specialization in Mathematics at San Diego State University.  Then, she completed her teaching credentials with an endorsement in ELL from California State University, San Marcos. She recently completed her Master's in Education in Learning and Technology.
Mrs. Smith worked in the Finance Department for the City of San Marcos. She learned the importance of being proficient in math and finance outside of the classroom.  Her teaching experience includes time as a 3rd Grade Teacher, Special Education Instructional Aide, a Nursery Coordinator, a Preschool Teacher, a Substitute Teacher, and several long-term substitute positions.  Her overall efforts were recognized when she received the “Outstanding Substitute of the Year” award for Hillside for 2014.
She loves to travel.  She has traveled to several US states, Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK.
As for hobbies and interests, she spends most of her time outdoors.  She loves to run, hike, bike, swim, paddleboard, and visit historical places.
Mrs. Smith believes that communication is the key to having a great classroom environment, and she is looking forward to teaching your child!
