    COURSE DESCRIPTION;
    Theatre Arts I (Drama I) introduces the art of theatre through reading, viewing and participating in theatre games and activities. Acting, improvisation, oral interpretation and play analysis lead to scene study and performance. Through acting exercises all students will build self-awareness, confidence and communication skills. Participation in co-curricular productions (PLAYS) are encouraged. 
     
    COURSE OBJECTIVES;
    This course will focus on the art and business of Theatre. Though practical application of voice and movement exercises, improvisation, theatre games and selected scene work the student will discover how to be self aware, creative, confident and communicate effectively on and off the stage. Students will become increasingly competent in the ability to recognize the results of effective communication on and off the stage. Students will be introduced to basic technical theatre/fundamentals of play production.
     
    ASSIGNMENTS 
    The only homework for this class is reviewing vocabulary words discussed in class. All other assignments are done in class with daily formative assessments. 
    MAJOR TOPICS TO BE COVERED
     
    1st quarter - Trust, Concentration, Observation, Problem Solving, Stage Fright.
    2nd quarter - Creative Drama, Pantomime, Clowning, Stage Terms, Group process, Team Building and performance
    3rd quarter - Improvisation, Theatre Sports, Character building, and performance of monologues
    4th quarter - Play Analysis, scenes, rehearsing and performance.
