COURSE TITLE: Teacher Cadet
PREREQUISITE: 3.0 GPA, three teacher recommendations, and an application process
DESCRIPTION: The Teacher Cadet Program is considered an introduction or orientation to the teaching profession. Its main purpose is to encourage students who possess a high level of academic achievement and the personality traits found in good teachers to consider teaching as a career. In this course, students will be exposed to the many facets of education through current educational readings, class discussions, guest speakers, discovery-learning projects, classroom observations, field experiences and interactions with successful administrators and teachers. CREDIT INFO: This course provides one (1) elective credit required for the Standard or Advanced Studies Diploma.
Starting in 2018/2019, Teacher Cadet 1 will be for 11th and 12th grade
Starting in 2018/2019, Introduction to Teacher Cadet will be for 9th and 10th grade
Starting in 2019/2020, Teacher Cadet 2 will be for 11th graders who complete Teacher Cadet 1 successfully
